Hunting Trophy Woodland Caribou in Newfoundland Canada is the hunting experience of a lifetime. Deep Country Lodge was built by some of Newfoundland’s greatest hunting and outdoors enthusiasts. Today it is owned and operated by outfitter and professional hunting guide Dean Crocker, who has over 40 years of big game hunting experience.
Deep Country Lodge operates two lodges and a variety of spike camps located in some of the best hunting areas in Central Eastern Newfoundland. These facilities offer full amenities with hot showers, comfortable sleeping quarters, lounging areas, full meals and cell service. These hunting sites are accessible by float plane, helicopter and all terrain vehicles on old forest access roads. We have a passion for hunting and obtaining Trophy Woodland Caribou, Black Bears and Moose.
We own 4 out of 10 of the top Woodland Caribou heads in the world. Deep Country Lodge put animals in the record books every year.
For the hunt we provide all terrain vehicles such as Argos , four-wheel drive ATVS, side by sides and four-wheel drive pickups. For our remote hunting we access with float planes, helicopters, aluminum boats, motors and canoes.

Dean has been hunting Newfoundland and Labrador and has been a professional guide for over 35 years. Taking his passion for hunting, he purchased a tent based outfitting business 15 years ago and has grown it into what Deep Country Lodge has become today. With two world class hunting lodges and a selection of spike camps, Dean credits the success of the business to all the hard working exceptional guides and great staff who are dedicated and take pride in their work.
Co-owner at Deep Country Lodge since 2005, Patti works in many aspects of the business from accounting to the overall logistics of operations. Her attention to detail clearly shows from the great food prepared to making everyone feel welcome at Deep Country Lodge.
Justin grew up with a love for the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Following in his father’s footsteps he became a professional guide and has worked with Deep Country Lodge for the past 15 years. Recently he decided to join the family business full-time and became Operations Manager. Justin’s desire and for hunting shows through everyday as he continues to help build Deep Country Lodge into a premier world class hunting destination.
This man worked tirelessly everyday to help Dean build his dream. Never to busy to do what others would not. The hunters who have met him know he is the glue that keeps it all together. Kim joined our team as marketing director for Deep Country Lodge in 2015. She designs all of our print based marketing material, as well as all elements of our trade show booth displays. She also has developed and maintained our websites and social media networks to allow us to share our greatest memories with you of Newfoundland’s top hunting destination, the place many of our clients call home
